Even the Ancient Romans knew that water is the source of all life, which explains why every Roman settlement had its own bathing temple. The rich and distinguished middle classes in particular gained vitality from these warm springs. The same can be said for Baden-Baden, where the ruins of Roman baths can still be seen today. The modern Caracalla baths, named after the Roman emperor Caracalla, are situated right next door and invite visitors to bathe in their thermal waters.
Schlosshotel Bühlerhöhe also sits above spring water that flows out of a nearby sand spring. This has supplied the Bühlerhöhe with fresh spring water, requiring little treatment, since 1914.
Up to 85 percent of the water requirements of the hotel are met by the sand spring. Since this healthy water is very soft, calcium has to be added otherwise the minerals it contains would destroy the hotel's copper pipework. The quality of this water is checked regularly to ensure it meets the stringent requirements of drinking water.
The spring water is not just used in Schlosshotel Bühlerhöhe for bathing but also for cooking, washing and cleaning. Visitors to the Beauty, Wellness & Spa Area can also test out the relaxing properties of the spring water as it also fills the hotel's large pool.
